We are proud to announce the successful completion of our 21-day Digital Literacy Programme (January 27th – February 16th, 2026), organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Handicapped Association in collaboration with the Northern Federation for the Blind.

Held at the Blind School Baramulla, this intensive training was designed to empower visually impaired students—ranging from primary school to postgraduate levels—with the tools they need to navigate the modern world.

Equipping Future Leaders

To ensure these students can pursue their education with independence, we distributed laptops, chargers, and carry bags to 30 nominated students. In addition to tech tools, each student received tactile books and a new pair of shoes to support their daily journey to school.

Highlights of the Event

  • Skill Demonstration: Student Sakib Ah Dar impressed the audience with a live demonstration of computer navigation, proving that visual impairment is no barrier to digital mastery.
  • Community Support: Additional DC Baramulla and Principal Mohd Shafi Lone (Degree College) delivered encouraging speeches, emphasizing the potential of our specially-abled youth.
  • Inspiration: Motivational talks by Sehrish Shabir and experience sharing by Rutba Qureshi highlighted the life-changing impact of digital literacy.
  • Cultural Spirit: The program opened with a soulful Tilawat by Hafiz Shahid and a moving Naat by Syed Khalid, while Khushboo Lateef brought smiles to the crowd with a lighthearted performance.

A Collective Effort

This milestone was made possible through the incredible support of our partners:

Voluntary Medicare Society (VMS), DPS Srinagar, Bookshare Benetech, M-junction, Indicai, NAB Delhi, Raised Lines Foundation, and Torchit.

As Mr. Bashir (Director, VMS) noted, it is the combined effort of these associations that turns the dream of digital inclusion into a reality. At JKHCA, we remain committed to breaking barriers and building a future defined by ability, not disability.
